Anai Bharucha is a fashion photographer who spends her time between Europe and India. She has an uncanny ability to dig deep into your brand and bring out your key philosophy and aesthetic while showcasing her minimalistic and subtle style. We were thrilled to work with Anai on our debut shoot and learn more about her in this interview.
Tell us about yourself, what are your interests and things that make you happy?
I am a fashion photographer based out of bombay. Kind people and good music make me happy
How did you get into the industry you work in?
I studied fashion photography in London and focused on building my book of work while I was there. When I got back to India around five years ago, it was easier because I already had a portfolio I could enter meetings with. I’m very grateful for every project I’ve been part of and every client I’ve worked with so far.
Where do you find inspiration?
Subjects and spaces constantly inspire me and I try to tell a story with them.
What does sustainability mean to you and how do you bring it into your life?
Sustainability has now become a much needed way of life. I almost never shop from fast fashion brands, I love vintage! This lockdown I’ve discovered a new hobby of finding and supporting small businesses and I am also trying composting.
What does Reistor represent to you?
Ease, comfort and sustainability.
One last thing…
If you were an animal, what would you be?
A panda. I’d love to sleep the way they do.
Favourite travel destination?
Anywhere with a swimmable beach.
The biggest issue with the fashion industry?
Fast fashion and the way it operates.
